The Vietnamese men's volleyball team surpasses Thailand in the FIVB rankings after the historic achievement at the SEA V Cup 2026

The historic victory at Leg 2 of the SEA V Cup 2026 has enabled the Vietnamese men's volleyball team to rise in the FIVB world rankings.

Vietnam Volleyball enters the world's Top 60, surpassing Thailand itself

According to the updated FIVB rankings after the tournament, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team moved up one spot to 58th in the world with 73.58 points, officially overtaking Thailand. This is a memorable milestone for Vietnamese men's volleyball, reflecting the strong progress made in recent times.

The fact that the SEA V Cup 2026 awards points in the FIVB ranking system gives Vietnam's championship significance beyond a regional title. Every victory over direct competitors has helped improve the team's score, elevating them to the highest position among Southeast Asian teams, second only to Indonesia.

This achievement also continues a series of notable milestones for Vietnamese men's volleyball in 2026. Not only did they win the SEA V Cup for the first time, but the team also secured a spot at the AVC Cup 2027 and earned numerous individual honors, most notably the double MVP and Best Outside Hitter awards for Nguyễn Ngọc Thuân.

Surpassing Thailand in the FIVB rankings is clear evidence of the development of Vietnamese men's volleyball. From a team often seen as playing catch-up in the region, Vietnam is steadily establishing a new status through impressive results on the court and a rise in the world rankings.
