The opponent of Vietnam's volleyball team in the semifinals of Leg 1 of the 2026 SEA V.Cup has been confirmed.

This will be a huge test for coach Federico Rampazzo, who is making his debut at the helm of the Vietnamese men's volleyball team in a competitive event.

The Vietnamese men's volleyball team has advanced past the group stage of Leg 1 of the 2026 SEA V.Cup (formerly known as the SEA V.League) following a comfortable victory over Myanmar in their final Group B match on the afternoon of July 17.

Finishing second in Group B due to a loss to Thailand in their opening match, Vietnam will now face the top team from Group A, which includes Indonesia, host nation Philippines, and Cambodia. Recently, the next opponent for coach Federico Rampazzo's squad has been officially revealed.

The 2026 SEA V.Cup marks the first official tournament where coach Federico Rampazzo leads the Vietnamese men's team.

Accordingly, Vietnam will have to take on Indonesia—currently the top team in Southeast Asia according to the FIVB world rankings. The archipelago nation easily secured two 3-0 wins over lower-rated Cambodia, as well as a Philippines side fielding only a second-string lineup, with Bryan Bagunas, Leo Ordiales, Kim Malabunga, and others all absent.

This will be an ultimate challenge for Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates, as Indonesia has brought a very strong squad to Candon, Philippines this year, clearly determined to claim the championship. Boy Arnez Arabi, Farhan Halim, Hendra Kurniawan, and Dio Zulfikri are all present and are expected to make our defense work hard throughout the day.

Boy Arnez—Indonesia's heavy-hitting offensive weapon.

At the 2025 SEA V.League, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team put up respectable performances against Indonesia. In Leg 1, Vietnam managed to push Indonesia to a fifth set before narrowly losing 2-3. In Leg 2, Ngoc Thuan and his teammates won one set, ultimately falling 1-3. Indonesia also won the second leg last year, going undefeated in all four matches with Boy Arnez Arabi in top form.

The match between Vietnam and Indonesia in the semifinals of Leg 1 of the 2026 SEA V.Cup will take place at 7:00 PM on July 18 (Hanoi time). Four hours earlier, the first semifinal between Thailand and Cambodia will be held.
