Compared to ASIAD 19 held in Hangzhou, China in 2023, the number of participating teams in the men's event dropped from 19 to 16, while the women's event increased from 13 to 16. The reigning champions of the men's and women's volleyball are Iran and China, respectively.

Also in Hangzhou that year, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team made history by reaching the top 4 of ASIAD for the first time. A highlight of the memorable journey of coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt and his players was the 3-2 victory over South Korea in the group stage, where Trần Thị Bích Thủy delivered an outstanding performance.

Both the Vietnamese men's and women's volleyball teams are actively training towards the goal of achieving high results in regional and continental tournaments.. Our female players are currently training at Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports, with 14 players called up in the initial phase. Meanwhile, new head coach Federico Rampazzo has also started his new work with the men's team.
