On the day when main attacker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was deployed... as an opposite hitter, Gunma Green Wings could not extend their impressive streak, suffering a 0-3 defeat to Hisamitsu Springs in Round 20 of the 2025–2026 Japanese Women's Volleyball Championship.
Against a second-ranked opponent with stable form, Thanh Thuy's team nearly failed to create any surprise. From the first set, Gunma started confidently and kept chasing the score. However, the turning point came when their first-step reception began revealing many weaknesses. Hisamitsu effectively utilized difficult serves to increase pressure, thereby winning 25-20.
In the second set, Gunma quickly fell into a passive position as their opponent built a deep lead. Although Thanh Thuy and her teammates mounted a strong comeback at times, narrowing the gap and creating significant pressure, instability at the end of the set led them to another loss, 19-25.

Thanh Thuy scored only 6 points in Gunma Green Wings' defeat
A similar scenario repeated in the third set. Gunma faced many difficulties maintaining momentum against Hisamitsu's solid play. Unable to create breakthroughs, the team accepted a 18-25 loss, thus concluding the match with a clean 0-3 defeat.
Notably, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was assigned to play as an opposite hitter – not her strong position. This clearly affected her performance, as she scored only 6 points with a 33.33% efficiency rate. This defeat officially ended Gunma Green Wings' four-match winning streak and also revealed a significant gap between them and the top-tier teams in the league.
