Men's indoor volleyball SEA Games 33 officially concluded on December 19 with the final between Thailand and Indonesia. The host country won a thrilling 3-2 match, dethroning Indonesia and claiming their first gold since 2017.
This marks the ninth time the "Land of Smiles" men's volleyball team has stood atop the SEA Games podium, narrowing the gap with the most successful team: Indonesia, now trailing by just 3 gold medals.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam men's volleyball team could not successfully defend the bronze medal they won in Cambodia two years ago after a comeback loss to the Philippines. This was the second consecutive 2-3 defeat for coach Trần Đình Tiền’s team at the 2025 SEA Games – both matches saw them initially lead 2-0.
The remaining three positions were claimed by Myanmar – the third most successful men's volleyball team at SEA Games, followed by Singapore and Laos.
