This marks the first time the outside hitter from Nghệ An will compete overseas.
According to various sources, national women's volleyball player Vi Thị Như Quỳnh will immediately head abroad to Indonesia to play, just a few days after the SEA Games 33 final match against Thailand.
It is known that Như Quỳnh will arrive in Indonesia on December 20 to prepare for the country's National Championship starting in early 2026. The club she will join is Medan Falcons (formerly Yogya Falcons).
Yogya Falcons are based in Medan city, West Indonesia, currently competing in Proliga - the highest-level professional volleyball league in the "Archipelago." Last season, the Falcons had a very... forgettable record: 0 wins - 12 losses, winning only 2 sets in total. They finished 7th out of 7 teams and were the only club without any victories.
Vi Thị Như Quỳnh is expected to enhance the Falcons' offensive strength, helping the team achieve a better position on the leaderboard. Here, Như Quỳnh will be teammates with the Philippine national team middle blocker - Dell Palomata.
Additionally, the Falcons have three Indonesian national players who competed at SEA Games 33: setter Yolana Betha Pangestika, libero Sulastri Rahma Aulia, and opposite hitter Pascalina Mahuze. The head coach of the Indonesian national team - Mr. Marcos Sugiyama is also leading this club.
By playing for Medan Falcons in the 2026 Indonesian National Championship, it is very likely that Như Quỳnh will miss the first phase of the Vietnamese National Championship held in Đông Anh, Hanoi.
Vi Thị Như Quỳnh, born in 2002, is currently one of Vietnam's top female outside hitters. She developed through VietinBank's youth academy before joining Quảng Ninh and establishing her reputation with the team from the mining region.
During her time with Quảng Ninh, Như Quỳnh was also loaned to Thông tin - Đông Bắc, VTV Bình Điền Long An, and most recently VietinBank. The Nghệ An native will no longer be part of Quảng Ninh after the 2025 season and is currently attracting special interest from top Vietnamese clubs.
