Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt's team forced the Thai hosts into a fierce point-by-point battle, competing closely for every score, with both sides repeatedly facing match points.

However, despite showing great courage and confidence, the Vietnam women's volleyball team could not grasp the historic gold medal, as Thailand scored the last two decisive points to close the set at 25-23, securing the overall victory 3-2 and rightfully earning the gold medal.
Nevertheless, Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt’s players earned their opponents’ admiration for their skill and fighting spirit. Player Wilavan Apinyapong, one of the key scorers who helped Thailand stage a comeback in the 5th set, said: "This was truly a championship-worthy match. The Vietnam team played excellently and fought tenaciously, causing us many difficulties and mistakes during the game. They are really strong, which made our victory even sweeter."
Meanwhile, player Natthanicha stated: "This match was extremely thrilling, and there were many moments when we felt worried because Vietnam played very well. That’s why Thailand had to work very hard; we had to stay united and support each other to win this game."
Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt also expressed pride in his players’ spirit during the final: "I have nothing to blame the players for because we were unlucky. They played with great courage and, despite facing a harsh final point situation, they performed very well against the opponent."
The Vietnam women's volleyball team suffered a disappointing defeat but can be proud and hold their heads high for playing an excellent match on Thai soil at SEA Games 2025.
