Without Thanh Thúy, the Japanese team lost their 7-game winning streak

Even though they played hard in the absence of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team captain, Gunma Green Wings ended up with an unfortunate loss.

Gunma Green Wings experienced their first loss after a streak of 7 consecutive wins in the 2025-2026 Japan Women's National Volleyball Championship (SV.League), falling 2-3 (25-21; 25-20; 20-25; 23-25; 14-16) to Victorina Himeji yesterday, December 7, Vietnam time.

Starting the match with high spirits after easily defeating the same opponent 3-0 on Saturday (December 6), Gunma Green Wings established a strong game and quickly took a 2-0 lead thanks to the outstanding performance of their two foreign players: Olivia Rozanski and Nasya Dimitrova.

However, on the opposite side, Himeji's foreign player Camilla Mingardi also had an impressive day. The Italian outside hitter’s ability to carry the team, along with the steady play of some domestic players such as Japanese national team members Satomi Fukudome, Airi Miyabe, and Rui Nonaka, helped the pink-clad team turn the match around.

The last two sets were extremely intense, with Victorina Himeji playing better at the crucial moments to complete a comeback after a tight 5-set battle.

Rozanski scored up to 29 points, middle blocker Dimitrova was outstanding with 11 successful blocks, and captain Minami Takaso also contributed 22 points, but it was not enough to help Gunma Green Wings extend their impressive form.

In the two matches against Himeji last weekend, Trần Thị Thanh Thúy did not participate as she is currently training with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team preparing for SEA Games 33. This is the third time Thanh Thúy has missed Gunma Green Wings' matches since the start of this SV.League season, with the blue team recording 1 win and 2 losses in those games.

These were also the last two matches before Gunma Green Wings begin their journey in the Empress's Cup. "4T" will miss the Japanese national cup matches before returning to compete in the national league with Gunma on December 28 against Ageo Medics.
