A special element has been added to the Vietnam women's volleyball team for SEA Games 33.

The Vietnam women's volleyball team has been reinforced with a special figure for their competition at SEA Games 33 in Thailand.

Vietnam's men's and women's volleyball teams at SEA Games 33 will have dedicated data analysts.

The Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) will enhance the incorporation of technology and data into the training and competition processes of the national teams at SEA Games 33 in Thailand.

According to the plan, both the men's and women's volleyball teams of Vietnam will have a dedicated member in charge of gathering and analyzing professional data throughout the competition.

This is considered an important step forward in efforts to modernize training and improve the competitive strength of Vietnamese volleyball in the regional arena.

The Vietnam women's volleyball team at SEA Games 33 will have a data analyst.

During the training phase and participation in international tournaments in early 2025, the two national teams did not have specialized personnel responsible for data analysis using dedicated software.

The absence of this element caused the coaching staff significant challenges in evaluating performance, analyzing opponents, and identifying tactical and technical areas for improvement.

Coaches had to rely heavily on direct observation, which could be limited by perspective or subjective judgment, instead of objective statistical data.

The head coach of the women's national team, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet, has emphasized that data collection and analysis during matches is an indispensable factor in modern volleyball.

According to him, "When detailed data on each play and situation is available, the coaching staff can easily assess the true abilities of each player and the team's tactical effectiveness. Post-match reviews also become more scientific and accurate."

On the men's team side, coach Tran Dinh Tien expressed a similar opinion. He believes that volleyball today is a combination of physical fitness, tactics, and technology.

Having a dedicated data analysis department will help the team get closer to professional training standards in the region, especially since strong opponents like Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines have been applying this model for many years.

Currently, the Vietnam women's volleyball team is training in Quang Ninh, while the men's team is based in Bac Ninh. Both teams aim to improve their performance at SEA Games 33, scheduled for December.

The women's team currently has 20 players, and the men's team has 18. Before departure, each team will reduce their roster to 14 official players.

At SEA Games 32 in Cambodia in 2023, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation tested assigning analyst Nguyen Trung Nam to handle data collection and analysis for both teams.

The positive results, with the women's team winning silver and the men's team taking bronze, clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of applying technology in training and competition.

The official deployment of dedicated personnel at SEA Games 33 is expected to help Vietnamese volleyball reach a higher level of professionalism, optimize performance, and aim for greater future goals.
