The ATP Toronto Masters has also finalized the men's singles final lineup, with the top two seeds Zverev and Fritz both falling short. The 11th seed Khachanov overcame a match point in the final set, narrowly winning 6-3/4-6/7-6(4) against top seed Zverev, reaching a Masters final for the first time in seven years since Paris 2018, and breaking his three-match losing streak against Zverev dating back to 2021.
Khachanov
Shelton
In the second men's singles semifinal that followed, the 4th seed Shelton emerged victorious in an all-American showdown, defeating the 2nd seed Fritz 6-4/6-3 in just 78 minutes, marking his first career Masters final appearance. This matchup was the first Masters semifinal between two American players since 2010, and the victorious Shelton became the youngest American to reach a Masters final since Roddick in 2004. Shelton will face Khachanov in their second encounter, having previously met at this year's Indian Wells Masters, where Shelton won in straight sets. If Shelton claims the title, he will rise to a career-high world ranking of No. 6.
