Andrescu's injury has been confirmed as an ankle sprain, and she hopes to continue her journey this season as soon as possible.

“Fate always tests me, but I know this will make me stronger.” Andrescu injured her ankle during a shot in the first round at the WTA Montreal event. Even though she fought hard to complete the match and won, she had to withdraw from the second round.

Andrescu announced on social media that her injury is a sprain. “I must listen to my body and the medical team's advice; I will take the necessary time to fully recover my ankle.”

Injuries have accompanied Andrescu throughout her career. Six years ago, she burst onto the scene by winning the US Open women's singles title, reaching a career-high world ranking of No. 4. In the following years, she faced multiple breaks due to shoulder, knee, ankle, foot, and back injuries. Most recently, a back injury sidelined her for six months from last October to this April, during which she also had to undergo an appendectomy.

This year, during the clay season, Andrescu returned to competition, reaching the round of 16 at the WTA 1000 event in Rome. However, she failed to advance from the qualifiers at both the French Open and Wimbledon. Earlier this month, Andrescu represented Canada alongside Aliassime at the Hopman Cup, where she maintained a perfect record in both singles and doubles, ultimately leading the Canadian team to victory.

“I keep wondering why, why does this always happen to me?” Andrescu said. “Having gone through it so many times, I obviously think of the worst-case scenario. Playing in front of a home crowd, winning this match when it was my match point, it’s all so crazy. I try to stay positive, but it’s really getting harder, it’s truly tough.”
