The 23-year-old Canadian won his first career ATP Tour title with a 7-5, 7-6(8) win over Belgium's Berges in the Men's Singles final, saving three set points in a tie-break. Diallo will rise to a new personal high of No.44 in the world rankings this week. Diallo and Berges have been friends for many years and will be competing in the men's doubles event at Wimbledon this year.
Diallo
Diallo lost to Khachanov in last year's ATP 250 final in Almaty, and eight months later, his dream came true at the grass court tournament in the Netherlands.
"Oh my God, I'm so incoherent. It's a moment I've always dreamed of since I was a kid," Diallo couldn't hide his excitement in his winning speech, "To be here after losing in the final last year means everything to me and the joy belongs to the whole team. "
Diallo became the fourth Canadian to win an ATP singles title this century, after only Raonic (8), Aliassime (7) and Shapovalov (3) have achieved the feat after Raonic (8), Aliassime (7) and Shapovalov (3).
