According to the CEO of Novak Djokovic's clothing manufacturer, Lacoste, Djokovic hopes to continue competing until at least the 2028 Olympics.
The tennis legend has been a brand ambassador for the iconic French fashion sports brand Crocodile France since 2017 and extended the agreement until 2025 in 2021.
Questions have been raised in recent months about the prospects of Djokovic's tennis career, with the Grand Slam record holder having a difficult season.
Djokovic has had encouraging performances at both the Australian Open and the Miami Masters, but he has lost in the opening match in four of the seven tournaments he will play in 2025.
The former world No.1 turns 38 later this month and is currently on a three-game losing streak after back-to-back defeats in Madrid, Monte Carlo and Miami.
The Serbian withdrew from the ongoing Italian Open without giving any reason, suggesting that he has limited willingness to participate in tournaments other than Grand Slam tournaments. However, some people suspect that Djokovic's withdrawal may be related to the "water cup smashing" incident that occurred here last year.
Djokovic won his 24th Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open, his most recent Grand Slam title, while he also won his 99th and latest singles title at Paris 2024.
French Crocodile CEO Thierry Gibert said he believes Djokovic will renew his contract with the brand, claiming that it is too early for the world No. 6 to retire.
"Novak wants to hold out until at least [2028] in Los Angeles." Gibel said in an interview with The Team.
"I have no doubt that we will find common ground in the coming weeks. We're mainly talking about the types of renewals. Half of his Grand Slam titles since we signed him have come while working with us. He has contributed a lot to this brand. ”
After winning a historic gold medal in Paris last August, Djokovic said he was keen to defend his Olympic title at the Los Angeles Olympics.
"I still want to go to the Los Angeles Olympics and I love fighting for my country, especially the Olympics and the Davis Cup, being part of the team." Djokovic said.
Novak Djokovic had an incredible performance in the gold medal battle at the Roland Garros Stadium, beating Carlos Alcaraz. He added:
The moment I won, what I felt really exceeded all my previous thoughts and expectations. Before I experienced today's feeling, I always thought it would be the best feeling to be the flag bearer at the opening ceremony [of London 2012]. On the pitch, the Serbian flag was raised, I sang the Serbian anthem, I had a gold medal around my neck, and I think there is nothing like that feeling in professional sports. It's definitely my biggest sporting achievement.
Who can doubt the feelings of this tennis legend? He has already done incredible things more than once!
Djokovic is next scheduled to compete at the French Open, which will be his first revisit to the venue where he won an Olympic title.
