ATP Indian Wells: Alcaraz easily advanced, winning 14 consecutive victories in this tournament

On March 10, local time, the ATP/WTA1000 Indian Wells station continued the third round of singles competition. Two-time reigning Men's Singles champion and second seed Alcaraz defeated Canada's Shapovalov 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the round of 16.

Alcaraz, who defeated Shapovalov at the 2023 French Open, quickly took a 5-0 lead in the first set, and although he missed a set point, he still took the lead 6-2. In the second set, he broke serve in the seventh game to seal the victory 6-4. Alcaraz's win brings him to the top of his 14-game winning streak and he will next face 14th seed Dimitrov for a place in the quarter-finals, who narrowly beat French veteran Monfils 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-6(2) in the evening.
