Sinner mentioned he is concentrating on refining an important aspect of his playing style to boost competitive efficiency against Carlos Alcaraz.
Jannik Sinner extended his unbeaten streak to seven matches by easily defeating Damir Dzumhur in just two sets at the Miami Open. The world number two continued his impressive form from winning Indian Wells, losing only six games against his Bosnian opponent.
Sinner's soaring performance positions him as a top contender for the Miami title, while also offering a chance to close the gap with Carlos Alcaraz on the ATP rankings. After advancing in this Masters 1000 event, the Italian player disclosed the significant adjustments he is diligently implementing to perfect his game.

Sinner continuously seeks to upgrade his technical skills to rival Carlos Alcaraz
During the match against Dzumhur, Sinner scored frequently by approaching the net, an element he acknowledged has been a focus of improvement recently. In an on-court interview, the 22-year-old athlete shared: "For me, the ability to transition from the baseline to an attacking position is extremely crucial. This is an area we have worked hard to enhance. However, it also depends on each match day."
Sinner also considered the second-round match against Dzumhur an ideal opportunity to test new adjustments. "Starting the match with an early break, I tried to play more aggressively. At times it worked very well, but I also made some unforced errors. I didn’t have much time to fully adapt here," he added.
Commenting on the playing conditions, Sinner acknowledged the differences compared to Indian Wells: "Everything here is very different. Opening matches are never easy, so I am pleased with today’s performance."

Sinner emphasized that the ability to shift from defense to attack is extremely important for him
In the next round, Sinner will face Corentin Moutet, who impressed by defeating Tomas Machac in three sets in his opening match. Although both have been professionals for years, they have only met once in an official match.
That sole encounter took place at Roland Garros 2024 on the Philippe-Chatrier court. At that time, the two players delivered a dramatic fourth-round match, with Sinner ultimately winning after four sets. Moutet received fervent support from the home crowd, something he may not replicate in Miami.
Recalling that match, Sinner said: "It was a very tough match. Moutet played exceptionally well in the first set. I also had my chances, but at key moments, he always performed better. I had to adjust some aspects of my game. It must be noted that he had a fantastic tournament, and the atmosphere that day was truly special."
