Surprise! Zhang Zhizhen defeated Hurkacz in three sets to enter the quarterfinals for the first time

Although Zheng Qinwen was out early in Doha this year's WTA1000, there are still a number of tournaments worth paying attention to this week, including events where Chinese players are still being drawn, so let's take a look at the latest events.

WTA1000 Doha Race

Swiatek was seeded and Ostapenko continued to sweep

This year's Doha tournament was a cold wind for the seeded players, with top seed Sabalenka knocked out of the tournament in the first match by Alexandrova, and the top seeds who also lost the first match were No. 3 seed Gauff, No. 7 seed Zheng Qinwen, No. 9 seed Badosa and so on.

Even so, the current women's singles semi-finals list is still full of famous players, the first half of the match is Alexandrova vs Anisimova, the second half is Ostapenko vs Swiatek, especially the second half of the women's singles semi-finals should be eye-catching.

Ostapenko has won all four of her matches against Swiatek and ended a three-game losing streak against Abdul-Jabbar with two 6-2 wins in the previous round.

The Women's Doubles also decided the semi-finals, with Chinese Jinhua Jiang Xinyu partnering Chinese Taipei's Wu Fangxian to advance to the semi-finals, where they received a retirement gift from fifth seeds Zhan Haoqing/Kudermetova in the quarter-finals, and will next compete with Maya/Sidmunge for a place in the final, with Andreeva/Schneider vs [3] Paulini/Errani in the Women's Doubles semi-finals.

WTA 250 Marseille

Zhang Zhizhen won a surprise victory and reached the quarterfinals for the first time this season

Despite being a 250-level event, Marseille has welcomed the likes of Dmitry Medvedev, Amber and Hurkacz this year.

In terms of Chinese players, Zhang Zhizhen, as the men's singles seed, defeated Aris in three sets in the first round, ending a recent losing streak, and facing the tournament's fourth seed Hurkacz in the second round, Zhang Zhizhen won again in three sets, which was also his seventh career victory over a top 20 player.

The victory also meant a lot for Zhang, including his first hard-court victory over a top-20 player since October 2023, his first tour quarter-final and back-to-back win since Hangzhou 2024, and his world ranking will return to the top 50 next week.

Next up for him will face Berges, who was hotly discussed in the Davis Cup not long ago for hitting people, and the two have a record of 1 win and 2 losses, with Zhang Zhizhen having a slight advantage. The latter defeated him in the first round of the Shanghai Masters last year, and is looking forward to Zhang Zhizhen's revenge in this tournament, and here is the specific list of the top eight of this tournament:
