Wang Xinyu has started this season with her best career opening yet, achieving an 8-3 record in Australia and reaching the round of 16 at the Australian Open, setting a personal best. She then promptly traveled to Romania to compete. Against qualifier Quevedo, Wang maintained her excellent form, winning eight consecutive games after trailing 3-4 in the first set to claim the match in straight sets. Her serving was outstanding, with a first-serve win rate of 89%, not allowing any break points to her opponent.
In a post-match interview, Wang Xinyu said, "I'm really happy to be back here competing. This is my second time playing at this event, and I'm satisfied with how I started today, maintaining an aggressive approach until the end. After a long journey, we didn’t have much time to adjust during the tournament, but that’s actually a good thing—it means I’ve been winning consistently. I’m glad to advance to the next round and hope to keep up the momentum and continue working hard." Next, Wang will await the winner between Ruse and Masarova.

The deciding set was fiercely contested, with Yuan missing three match points while serving for the victory. The match went to a tiebreak, where Yuan came back from 0-3 down to narrowly win 7-5, securing her place in the next round after 3 hours and 24 minutes of play.

Defending champion and 5th seed Potapova saved herself from a tough situation after trailing 2-4 in the second set and broke her opponent’s serve in the deciding set to complete a 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 comeback win against Italy’s Bronzetti, extending her winning streak against the Italian to six matches and advancing to round two. Yesterday, top seed Raducanu and 7th seed Danilovic both secured opening-round wins, while former champion Karolina Pliskova was upset in three sets, losing 6-4, 2-6, 2-6 to Zakharova.
In doubles, the two Chinese pairs who played yesterday recorded one win and one loss. The 4th seeds Yuan Yue and Tang Qianhui were defeated 4-6, 3-6 by the home team Cristian/Ruse, missing out on advancing.
