Mr. Mei was furious at the referee when he encountered a controversial penalty: You don't have long eyes! Deliberately find fault!

Yesterday's first round of the Rotterdam Open, Medvedev got into a heated argument with the referee in his match with Wawrinka, and the Russian angrily expressed his frustration with the timeout awarded in the first set.

The two stars went head-to-head in the first round of the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam. The match was controversial at 6-5 in the first set, with Medvedev appearing to be unable to serve in time due to a caddie delay, and he was subsequently ruled out for a service timeout. Although world No. 7 Medvedev held serve, he returned to his seat and fired straight at the referee.

Medvedev lashed out at the referee's "garbage" decision, angrily demanding that the opponent "open his eyes" and blame the caddie for the delay. The 28-year-old even referred to a past controversy with Khachanov, criticising the referee's consistently poor decisions.

"Why did you sentence me for a timeout violation? Do you have a problem? The caddy didn't give me the ball. Did you see that? Open your eyes, no, you don't have eyes at all. Man, you're terrible. I remember that time with Khachanov, I remember that you can't see at all. Why are you giving me a timeout? You have a problem, your decisions in every game are absolute rubbish. Medvedev said.

Medvedev further claimed that he had been calm, instead accusing the referee of deliberately "finding fault" and saying that the referee had "something wrong". "I'm calm, but you're looking for trouble, man. You really have a big problem. I didn't speak to you, and I didn't say anything. And then you judge like that. He added, "Open your eyes and move your brain." I know you're just sitting there, but use your brain. ”

Despite wasting two set points and losing the first set after a heated argument, Medvedev came back from behind to win 6-7(8) 6-4 6-1 to advance to the second round of the Rotterdam Open.

In a post-match on-court interview, Medvedev attributed the loss of the first set to his lack of confidence on the court. However, the Russian was pleased to be able to adjust his form and improve his performance over Wawrinka. Medvedev also expressed his desire to continue to improve his form in the upcoming tournaments and strive for an even better result at the 2025 Rotterdam Open.

'When you have faith, you can win some goals that you could have lost; When you lack confidence, you lose some points that you should have won. I was like, 'I'm not playing too badly right now,' so if I keep going and try to play better, maybe it will work, and I'm glad it did." Hopefully I can play better and better in the next games. Medvedev said.

After beating Wawrinka, Medvedev will face Mattia Belucci in the second round of the Rotterdam Open, and if he advances, he could face Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals.(Source: Tennis Home Author: Spark)
