When discussing his career future, the 38-year-old Serbian star made it clear that as long as he remains among the elite, he has no plans to retire. The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is his current main goal.

"I sincerely want to continue fighting, with the Los Angeles Olympics guiding me, but my career has no ceiling," Djokovic said frankly. He emphasized that his love for hitting and competing is the core reason for his persistence. Previously, when talking with football legends, he mentioned that this pure passion is what keeps legends on the court. "As long as I maintain a high level and my body holds up, why should I stop?"

As a ten-time Australian Open champion, Djokovic last won in Melbourne in 2023. In the following two years, he was stopped at the semifinals—losing to eventual champion Sinner in 2024, and retiring due to injury against Zverev at the same stage in 2025. Missing out on the title for two consecutive years has made his Australian Open journey this season even more anticipated.
