What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Kyrgios?
Many fans likely remember his controversial statements and behaviors over the years, for example, during the 2015 Wimbledon season, Kyrgios was verbally warned by the chair umpire for changing socks during his match against Gasquet, and he bluntly claimed that Nadal took more than 30 seconds between each serve.
On and off the court, Kyrgios has been involved in numerous scandals. His romantic life has also drawn criticism; after breaking up with Karolína in May 2025, she publicly stated that the reason for their split was Kyrgios cheating multiple times during their relationship and called him a "person of low moral character and a scoundrel."

Born in April 1995 in Canberra, Australia’s capital, Kyrgios showed exceptional athletic talent from a young age. He won the Australian Open junior boys’ singles title early in 2013 and, after becoming the world No.1 junior, he turned professional that same year.
Upon entering the professional circuit, Kyrgios quickly made significant progress. At the 2014 Wimbledon, he first defeated veteran Gasquet, then shocked the world by beating then-world No.1 Nadal 3-1 in the fourth round to reach the men’s singles quarterfinals — a victory that remains memorable to many fans.
In 2016, Kyrgios won his first tour title at the Marseille Open, becoming the first player born after 1995 to claim a championship in the history of the ATP Tour.
However, despite a series of breakthroughs afterward, Kyrgios still fell short of the high expectations placed on him. In 2017, he reached his first Masters final in Cincinnati, and in 2022, he teamed up with fellow Australian Kokkinakis to win the Australian Open men’s doubles title. That same year, he made it to the Wimbledon men’s singles final but lost to Djokovic, missing out on the championship.

In recent seasons, Kyrgios has almost vanished from fans’ view. Reviewing his participation over the past few years reveals that this former Wimbledon finalist has played only six official matches in three years: Stuttgart 2023, Brisbane 2024, and the Australian Open, Indian Wells, and Miami in 2025. His only win was in the first round at Miami against American player McDonald.

In a few months, Kyrgios will turn 31, an age considered the latter stage of a professional tennis career. Nevertheless, he has announced plans to return in the 2026 season, starting with the ATP 250 Brisbane tournament. Fans are eagerly awaiting more thrilling performances from him!
Notably, his gender showdown with Sabalenka is scheduled for the 28th of this month. What stands out most to you about Kyrgios?(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Barbie)
