Who has been the standout in women's tennis from the end of the last tournament until now this year? It is definitely Rybakina!

After catching the last train to qualify for the year-end finals during the Asian swing, no one predicted that Rybakina would command such respect from everyone following her late qualification.
Not only did she defeat the top favorite Sabalenka in the Riyadh year-end championship final, but by the end of the 2025 season, the Kazakh beauty also dominated the headlines in various summaries, including being named the best server of 2025!
Although Rybakina's number of titles in 2025 doesn't match those of Sabalenka or Swiatek, she stands far ahead in the WTA's annual best server category as the Kazakh star.
This year, Rybakina leads all WTA players with 516 aces, claiming the top spot in this statistic.

If Rybakina's first-place ranking in this category surprises some, consider this: her 516 aces exceed the second-place Noskova by 142 and the third-place Townsend by 158. Following that pattern, players like Aleksandrova and Naomi Osaka fall even further behind her.
On the men's side, the best server is American Fritz, who tops all male players with 867 aces.
Fritz deserves praise for his serving progress over the past two years. In 2023, he ranked second behind Hurkacz; in 2024, he was third after Zverev; and this year, he surged to first place, showcasing tremendous improvement in his serve.

However, it's unfortunate that despite Fritz’s impressive ace count, the player who gained the most attention after the best server announcement was Rybakina, not the American male star.
Why is that? Because Rybakina set a new WTA single-season record with this achievement.
This record makes her the first woman since 2016 to surpass 500 aces in a single season! In the past nine years, no female player had reached this milestone until Rybakina did this year, causing a significant stir in the tennis community and media.

The only slight downside for Rybakina is that despite being the first in nine years to achieve this, she still ranks second all-time in this category. The top spot belongs to Czech player Kapriskova, who astonishingly recorded 517 and 530 aces in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
Some fans and netizens admitted they only knew Kapriskova was a strong server before, but didn’t realize how impressive her numbers were. If it weren't for Rybakina winning the 2025 best server award, Kapriskova’s record might not have been revisited, unexpectedly bringing her back into the spotlight and earning widespread praise.
Of course, some joked that Rybakina’s dominance in ace numbers this year might partly be due to luck, such as Zheng Qinwen’s injury troubles which forced her to end her 2025 season early.

People bring up Zheng Qinwen at this time mainly because last year she led all female players in aces. The implication is that if Zheng had maintained last year's form, she could have competed with Rybakina for this title, and this honor might not have gone to the Kazakh player now.
However, others argue that even if Zheng Qinwen had completed the full season like last year, she might still not have surpassed Rybakina for the best server title. Last year Zheng had 445 aces, while Rybakina has 516 this year.
After clarifying whether Rybakina’s serving success this year was due to luck or not, some have asked about the ace counts of Sinner and Alcaraz, who dominated the four Grand Slams this year.

Unfortunately, since the data only lists the top five male servers, neither Sinner nor Alcaraz appear on this list. Among men, Opelka ranks second with 790 aces; Aliassime is third with 783; Menšík is fourth with 679; and Bublik is fifth with 674.(Source: Tennis Home; Author: Moon River’s Starry Sky)
