Novak Djokovic demonstrated his “best” performance as he overcame Yannick Hanfmann with a score of 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the Athens final.
Novak Djokovic showed his “best” form by defeating Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-4, earning a spot in the Athens final.
The Serbian player had a perfect warm-up before next week’s Nitto ATP Finals, easily beating Hanfmann in straight sets. This victory allows Djokovic to continue his pursuit of the 101st career title while regaining his competitive spirit ahead of Turin.
After the match, Djokovic praised the main court in Athens, saying it was where he played the best tennis since the start of the tournament: “Thank you all for filling this wonderful stadium once again,” Djokovic expressed.
“This is my third match on the main court, and every time I step out, I am overwhelmed. I have played in many of the world’s most beautiful indoor arenas, but I can confidently say this ranks among the top three most stunning courts I have ever played on.”
Djokovic also admitted this was his best performance in the tournament so far: “I believe this was my highest level at this event, and it came at the right moment. Hanfmann is a dangerous opponent with a powerful serve and strong game, so I had to stay focused. I was down a break in the second set but remained calm and came back. I’m very excited for the final.”
Djokovic’s next opponent will be either Sebastian Korda or Lorenzo Musetti, who will face off in the other semifinal. If Musetti wins, he will have the chance to challenge Djokovic for a spot at the ATP Finalsin Turin. Conversely, if Musetti does not win in Athens, Felix Auger-Aliassime will claim the final ticket to this prestigious tournament.
