The four leading women advancing to the knockout stage of this year's WTA Finals have been revealed.
The WTA Finals 2025 — a tennis tournament featuring the top 8 players of the season — has reached its halfway point. After thrilling matches in the group stage, the four women who will compete in the semifinals of this prestigious event have been confirmed.
The queen of the tennis world — Elena Rybakina is the first player to secure a spot among the final four. The indoor hard court perfectly suits her powerful serve and forehand, allowing Rybakina to perform exceptionally well, easily defeating Amanda Anisimova in straight sets in her opening match and staging a comeback win against Iga Swiatek — including a flawless 6-0 set in the third — thus advancing with one match to spare.
In a dead rubber match, the Kazakh player still showed great determination by defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova, who replaced the ill Madison Keys.
Anisimova is the other player from Serena Williams' group to advance, clinching her place with a dramatic victory in the decisive match against Iga Swiatek, effectively eliminating the world No. 2 from the tournament early.
Meanwhile, in Steffi Graf's group, the world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka demonstrated her dominance by winning all three matches, including a victory over Coco Gauff, who thus lost her title as the tournament’s defending champion.
The other player advancing alongside Sabalenka is Jessica Pegula — a player who reached the WTA Finals final two years ago.
In the semifinals, Aryna Sabalenka will face Amanda Anisimova — a clash between two players known for their powerful playing styles — while Elena Rybakina will compete against Jessica Pegula. The WTA Finals 2025 semifinals will take place tonight, November 7th, Vietnam time.
