Djokovic reached his 199th career semifinal match.

Novak Djokovic is also on the verge of winning his 101st title following his victory in Geneva earlier this year.

Last night, November 6th, Novak Djokovic thrilled the crowd in Athens, Greece by defeating Nuno Borges 7-6, 6-4, securing his place in the semifinals of the 2025 Hellenic Championship — the first time this tournament has been held in the land of mythology.

This win not only brings the Grand Slam record-holder closer to his second title of the season (after the Geneva Open) but also marks the milestone of Nole reaching his 199th career semifinal, a record only behind Jimmy Connors (239) and Roger Federer (211) in the Open Era.

Beyond the quantity, the scale of Djokovic’s semifinal appearances is among the most impressive in tennis history: 53 Grand Slam semifinals (the highest ever, 7 more than Federer) and 80 ATP 1000 semifinals, where he also holds the record ahead of Nadal (76).

Novak Djokovic demonstrated his class against Nuno Borges.

In the quarterfinal match against Borges, Djokovic started solidly with eight consecutive service holds. When trailing 15-40 in the 8th game of the first set, the Serbian player brilliantly saved break points with powerful serves, then confidently won the tie-break to take the lead.

In the second set, a single break of serve in the 7th game allowed Nole to close out the match after more than 1 hour and 45 minutes. He currently holds a perfect 29-0 record in 2025 when winning the first set.

"I think it was a very intense match. Nuno played at a very high level, which really surprised me.", Djokovic shared after the match. "I had to take risks at critical moments, especially in the first set. When you trust your instincts, sometimes the reward comes. I’m very pleased with today’s performance and thankful to the fans for their support."

In the semifinals of the 2025 Hellenic Championship, Novak Djokovic will face Yannik Hanfmann, who recently defeated Marcos Giron 7-6, 6-4. The Serbian player currently leads their head-to-head 2-0, including a tough victory in Shanghai last month.
