The ATP Finals 2025 will once again be held in Turin, Italy, marking the fifth consecutive year the city hosts the season's most prestigious tennis event. Previously, the tournament was hosted in London, England for 12 years. Over the last four seasons in Turin, Novak Djokovic has been the most successful player, winning back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.
Alexander Zverev was the first champion in Turin in 2021, while the most recent winner, Jannik Sinner, will return as the defending champion. However, the Italian player is seeded second, behind Carlos Alcaraz, who currently leads the Race to Turin rankings. This means Alcaraz and Sinner will not face each other in the group stage this year.
The two groups are named after tennis legends Jimmy Connors and Bjorn Borg. According to the draw, Alcaraz is the top seed in the Jimmy Connors group, while Sinner leads the Bjorn Borg group. Novak Djokovic, a seven-time ATP Finals champion, is expected to face a tough challenge competing in the same group as Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz.
However, Djokovic has yet to confirm his participation in this year's ATP Finals. The Serbian player revealed he will make his decision after concluding his campaign at the 2025 Hellenic Championship, dismissing claims made by the President of the Italian Tennis Federation, Angelo Binaghi.
The Jimmy Connors group is considered the "Group of Death," featuring Alcaraz, Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, and Alex de Minaur—two players with contrasting styles. Fritz is known for his aggressive play and powerful serves, while De Minaur stands out with his exceptional movement and defensive skills.
In the Bjorn Borg group, Jannik Sinner will face Alexander Zverev, the inaugural Turin champion. This matchup promises excitement as Sinner has won all four of their recent encounters. Additionally, young American Ben Shelton will make his ATP Finals debut after recovering from an injury sustained at the US Open.
The final spot in this group is still to be decided between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti. Auger-Aliassime unexpectedly withdrew from the Moselle Open, while Musetti must win the Hellenic Championship to secure the last place in Turin.
