The Polish player Swiatek is well known to many fans. Since capturing her first Grand Slam title in 2020, she has now won six Grand Slam trophies, just one step away from completing a career Grand Slam. Yet, this powerful player faced four bagels in the 2025 season. Today, let this article take you through those events.

At the end of April, Swiatek appeared as the second seed at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open. As a seeded player, she received a first-round bye. In the second round, despite losing the first set, she came back to defeat Philippine player Iera. Notably, Iera had recently beaten Swiatek in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 Miami event, and taking a set off her again proved Iera is no fleeting star.

Afterwards, Swiatek defeated Czech player Noskova and Russian player Schneider to reach the quarterfinals; there, she faced American player Keys. In the first set, Keys, who had recently won her first Grand Slam title, served a bagel to Swiatek—marking the first bagel Swiatek received in the 2025 season. Fortunately, Swiatek adjusted her game and won the next two sets, overturning the result and avenging her Australian Open loss.

At the end of May, having already achieved a three-peat at the French Open, Swiatek entered Roland Garros as the fifth seed. She cruised through victories over Slovakia’s Schramková, Britain’s Raducanu, Romania’s Cristian, Kazakhstan’s Rybakina, and Ukraine’s Svitolina to reach the semifinals. There, she faced world number one and Belarusian player Sabalenka.

In their match, the first set went to a tiebreak, which Sabalenka won; however, Swiatek took the second set 6-4, pushing the contest to a decider. In the final set, Sabalenka unleashed a dominant performance and bagelled Swiatek. This ended Swiatek’s dream of a fourth consecutive French Open title and marked her second bagel of the 2025 season.

At the end of September, Swiatek arrived at the China Open as the top seed. As usual for a seeded player, she had a first-round bye; in the second round, she bagelled Chinese player Yuan Yue; in the third round, after delivering a bagel, Colombian player Osorio retired from the match; in the fourth round, her opponent was American player Navarro, who had previously reached a Grand Slam semifinal.

In this match, the first two sets were split between the players, forcing a deciding set. Unexpectedly, Navarro served a bagel in the final set, halting Swiatek’s progress. This was her third bagel received in the 2025 season and the first time she was bagelled before the quarterfinals.

This Tuesday, in the group stage of the year-end championships, Swiatek faced Kazakhstan’s Rybakina, a former Wimbledon champion, for the second match. Swiatek took the first set 6-3, gaining an advantage toward advancing.

Unfortunately, in the second set, Swiatek was bagelled. In the deciding set, Rybakina maintained her strong form and served a bagel, overturning the match to win and advance to the semifinals of the year-end championships for the first time in her career with two straight wins. Meanwhile, Swiatek suffered her fourth bagel of the 2025 season, marking the first time she received so many bagels in a single year.
