Sinner wins his first Paris Masters title, returns to world No. 1
Jannik Sinner showed his strength at the 2025 Paris Masters and officially regained the world No. 1 spot from Carlos Alcaraz.
Jannik Sinner captured his first career Paris Masters championship by defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6 in the final held on Sunday evening (November 2nd, Vietnam time). This victory not only earned him his first Masters 1000 title of the season but also helped Sinner reclaim the world No. 1 ranking from Carlos Alcaraz.
Previously, the 24-year-old athlete held the ATP No. 1 position for 65 consecutive weeks starting from June last year, before Alcaraz overtook him after the US Open final in September. Regaining the top ranking from Alcaraz is especially sweet for Sinner, considering he suffered multiple losses to Carlitos this year, including a shocking defeat in the Roland Garros final.
After a three-month ban early in 2025 due to a doping controversy, Sinner made a powerful comeback. He now boasts five titles this season, including two prestigious Grand Slams: the Australian Open and Wimbledon. The Paris Masters represents his first ATP 1000 title since his victory in Shanghai last October.
In the final, Sinner started confidently by breaking serve in the very first game, gaining an early advantage and maintaining a steady pace to close the first set 6-4. In the second set, Auger-Aliassime fought back fiercely, saving multiple break points and pushing the set into a tiebreak. However, the Italian showed greater composure in crucial moments, taking a 3-2 lead in the tiebreak and sealing the match with a precise down-the-line backhand winner.
Jannik Sinner will have a week off before competing in the 2025 ATP Finals on home soil. The 24-year-old faces a tough challenge in Turin as he must defend a massive 1,500 ranking points as the reigning champion of the tournament.
