Exciting! The men's singles race for the year-end spot has also reached a deadlock.

The women's singles spots for the 2025 WTA Finals were only finalized a week before the tournament started, with Paolini, Rybakina, and Andreyeva competing for two places. Andreyeva, who had an absolute advantage due to her strong performance in the first half of the year, slipped because of poor results in the Asian swing, while Paolini and Rybakina steadily overtook her at the last moment.

Currently, two matches of the Riyadh year-end finals women's singles group stage have been played. Rybakina, who barely qualified, faced Anisimova, a first-time participant in this event, in her opening match. Rybakina swept her opponent in just 57 minutes with a 6-3, 6-1 victory, securing 200 points and $695,000 in prize money as desired.

The match between Swiatek and Keys was even more one-sided, with the Polish star crushing this year’s Australian Open women’s singles champion 6-1, 6-2. Keys committed 33 unforced errors throughout the match, while Swiatek’s first serve success rate was an impressive 82% for the entire contest.

The women's event has already kicked off with great intensity, but the full lineup for the men's singles at this year's ATP Finals is still undecided. Naturally, the men's finals always start later than the women's. This year, the tournament continues to be held in Turin, Italy, from November 9th to 16th, also on indoor hard courts. The total prize money for this year’s ATP Finals has also set a record at $15.5 million.

So far, seven men’s singles spots have been confirmed. The first to qualify was Alcaraz, who won three Masters titles this year (Monte Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati). The second qualifier is the defending champion Sinner, who claimed titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon and reached the finals at Roland Garros and the US Open.

Serbian star Djokovic is the oldest player among all qualifiers this year, marking his 18th appearance at this event, tying the all-time record with Federer. Djokovic’s performance this season has also been remarkable, reaching the semifinals in all four Grand Slams and winning his 100th career title in Geneva.

Following Djokovic, the other qualifiers include Zverev (a two-time year-end champion), Fritz, Shelton (making his debut), and Deminal.

There is still one men’s singles spot left, expected to be decided between Aliassime and Musetti. Aliassime is currently competing in the Paris Masters and reached the final by defeating Bublik in the semifinals. If he wins the final against Sinner, he will secure the last spot directly; if he finishes runner-up, the final decision will depend on the points from next week’s tournaments between him and Musetti.(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Barbie)
