Jannik Sinner secured his first-ever spot in the Rolex Paris Masters final after defeating Alexander Zverev 6-0, 6-1 last night. This victory puts him on track to reclaim the world No. 1 ranking from Carlos Alcaraz.
The Italian second seed showed overwhelming dominance throughout, recording 23 winners and only 12 unforced errors. With this victory, Sinner improved his head-to-head record against Zverev to 5-. The German player—the defending champion—although he overcame Daniil Medvedev after saving two match points in the quarterfinals, appeared exhausted and struggled with movement during the semifinal.
"When your physical condition declines like that, you can’t maximize the power in your serves," Sinner explained. "I’m happy to reach the final, but this isn’t the way you want to win. Facing Sascha (Zverev) is always a special experience, but today it’s clear he wasn’t at full fitness."
Sinner also praised his opponent’s effort: "He played an outstanding match yesterday, saving two match points, reaching the Vienna final and then advancing to the semifinals here – it’s an incredible streak of form. We all hope he recovers quickly in time for Turin."
