Sheldon advances to the quarterfinals in Paris, securing a spot and qualifying for the ATP Finals for the first time.

American Ben Sheldon secured his qualification for the ATP Finals by advancing to the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters on Thursday, with just two singles positions remaining for the Turin year-end event.

After experiencing the best season of his career, Sheldon is set to debut at the year-end Finals—this year he reached his second Grand Slam semifinal and captured his first ATP 1000 tournament title at the Canadian Masters.

With Sheldon joining Taylor Fritz in qualifying, this marks the first time since 2006—when James Blake and Andy Roddick participated—that two American singles players will compete together for the Brad Drewett Cup (the ATP Finals trophy). Blake reached the final that year.

Sheldon started his 2025 season strongly, reaching the Australian Open semifinals before ultimately falling to champion Yannick Sinner.

Later, he reached the Munich final in April and entered the ATP top ten rankings in June, becoming the fourth American left-handed player to achieve this since 1973.

Currently, Sheldon has secured his Finals spot alongside Alcaraz, Sinner, Zverev, Djokovic, and Fritz. Only two singles places remain at the year-end Finals, with De Minaur and Musetti ranked seventh and eighth respectively in the ATP Turin Finals live standings.
