2025 Australian Open: Wang Xinyu lost to Bardosa and stopped in the first round

On January 12, Beijing time, the first round of the women's singles of the 2025 Australian Open continued, and China's golden flower Wang Xinyu lost to No. 11 seed Badosa 3-6/6-7(5), and was eliminated in the first round of the Australian Open for two consecutive years.

Wang Xinyu is not in good form in the new season, suffering first-round defeats in both WTA Tour events; Badosa has only won one win at the WTA in Adelaide. In this match, Wang Xinyu showed a good hand in the opening game, taking the lead to break serve and take a 3-1 lead, but then she unexpectedly lost five games in a row and lost the first set 3-6. In the second set, Wang Xinyu improved her performance on her serve and held serve with Badosa in the first eight games. In the next two games, the two sides launched a fierce attack on each other's serve, and after Wang Xinyu broke Badosa's serve to win the game, both sides protected one game each, bringing the match into a tie-break. In the tie-break, Wang Xinyu completed two mini-breaks in the opening game to lead 3-0, but then she lost four points in a row and was passive, and finally Bardosa seized the opportunity of the second match point and won the tie-break with a small score of 7-5 to pocket the victory.

In the whole game, Wang Xinyu's second serve scoring rate was only 43%, and she hit 32 winning points while also making 40 unforced errors, which was in strong contrast to Badosa's 9 winning points and 15 unforced errors, which also became the key to the loss of this game. Badosa's opponent in the second round will be between Semmez and Gibson.
