2025 China Open: Navarro stuns Swiatek, to face Pegula next

In the early morning of October 2 Beijing time, the women's singles quarterfinalists of the 2025 China Open were decided. The 16th seed Navarro defeated top seed Swiatek 6-4, 4-6, 6-0, reaching the quarterfinals of a 1000-level tournament for the third time in her career. She will compete against the 5th seed Pegula, who beat the 23rd seed Kostyuk 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-1, marking her first quarterfinal appearance at the China Open and her 20th time reaching the last eight in a 1000-level singles event.

“I feel great,” Navarro said after the match, “but there’s always room for improvement. That’s why I love sports and tennis—you know, you never reach perfection, and there’s always someone striving to get better. So yes, there’s a lot of work to do in tomorrow’s practice.”
