It is understood that Liverpool has accepted a bid from Al Hilal for the Uruguayan forward.
When asked for an update this morning, Slot responded: "Things are not finalized yet, but there is indeed a chance that he might leave.
"At this current moment, Darwin could leave, but nothing is signed yet, so we will have to wait a few days until that possibility is fully resolved, yet there is a chance he could depart."
Regarding the potential sale prompting Liverpool to pursue Alexander Isak after a £110 million bid was turned down by Newcastle last week, Slot was evasive.
He continued: "These are many questions I prefer not to answer. You never discuss players who are not part of your team, so I can only talk about Hugo (Ekitike), who we have recently signed and has performed quite well so far.
"We are very pleased with the squad we currently have, and there is every reason to feel positive because we won the league last season. Sure, some players have left, but we have also brought in new players, and the young ones are thriving.
"I believe we possess a lot of attacking strength in our team. When I consider Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Hugo Ekitike, Mo Salah, Jeremie Frimpong, who can operate as a right winger, Florian Wirtz, who can function as a left winger - I already feel I have ample attacking options in my current roster.
"But, as always, as a club, we are constantly exploring opportunities in the market, which can also pertain to the midfield or the defense."
New faces set to appear at Wembley
On Liverpool's preparations leading up to Sunday's Community Shield against Crystal Palace, Slot expressed optimism.
The Reds will face the FA Cup champions, featuring newcomers like Wirtz, Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Frimpong.
Slot remarked, "The positive aspect of last season was that the entire squad remained intact, so they were already well-acquainted with each other.
"Now, a few players have departed and we have added some new faces, which always requires a bit of adjustment since the players we've brought in - some possess different qualities compared to those we already have. They need to adapt to their new teammates, but we also need to adapt to them.
"We have been training for four weeks already, so that is the encouraging part about not having a World Cup or any other international competition, allowing us to work with them from the outset."
Ngumoha to participate?
Before concluding, alongside the summer signings, Slot was asked if we might see the young star Rio Ngumoha at Wembley after his impressive preseason performances.
Slot added, "He and Trey (Nyoni) have a remarkable opportunity to train and be around players like Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah daily to observe their routines in preparation for performances every three days, and this is a crucial step for these players, which is entirely normal.
"We aim to develop them in the best way possible, but we also need to ensure their well-being. We are mindful of that, but it has been promising for him, as it has been for Trey as well."
