Days after being sacked by Manchester United, Ten Hag released his resignation speech, thanking the fans and coach and insisting he still wants the team to succeed. After leaving his job, Ten Hag returned to his hometown in the Netherlands alone to seek solace from his parents, and has now finally calmed down.
In an open letter released through his agency, Ten Hag wrote: "Dear Manchester United fans, thank you above all. Thank you for always supporting the club, whether it's on the road or in a tough game at Old Trafford. Thanks to you, the atmosphere at the Theater of Dreams is always exciting, and I have felt it many times. It's the same on the road, whether it's in England or Europe or in the summer warm-ups, and it's an unbelievable feeling for the team and me to hear the shouts of Manchester United echoing through the pitch."
The former Manchester United boss added: "I always like to meet Manchester United fans from all over the world. Walking down the street, being able to talk to fans in England, Europe, Asia, Australia, the United States. You have inspired me and exuded a strong sense of unity. That's what makes Manchester United fans so special. I want to thank you for giving me this feeling and thank you for your support. I would also like to thank the staff in every department of the club for their unwavering support in good times and bad."
The 54-year-old Dutchman did not forget to mention his two trophies again and said he was sorry not to win more. "We have won two trophies and I will cherish them for the rest of my life. Of course, my dream was to bring more trophies to Manchester United, and unfortunately that dream has come to an end. I have no more wishes for the United fans than success, trophies and glory. Your support and the warmth that everyone in the club gave me made me feel at home. Thank you for writing this chapter of my life."
Ten Hag's statement made no mention of the player, while the players in the United dressing room were also critical of him. According to the British media, the Manchester United star held his own summary meeting and believed that Ten Hag's on-the-spot scheduling caused the team to score eight fewer points.
The players admit that they did not play well against opponents such as Tottenham and West Ham, wasted many good scoring opportunities and were responsible for the defeat. But they also believe that Ten Hag's tactics and substitutions have led to eight points less.
If those points are earned, United will now have 19 points, one point ahead of Arsenal and Aston Villado, who are third and fourth. Now, Manchester United are only 14th and will host Chelsea on Sunday.
A source said: "The players are definitely aware of their poor performances in some games this season and honestly admit it. But they are also baffled by some of Ten Hag's decisions, which seem to them to be meaningless. Either they left out in-form players from the starting line-up and replaced players who performed well in key moments of the game, or they made the wrong substitutions and tactical adjustments that they felt led to the team's defeat. They believe Ten Hag's changes have resulted in two losses and left the other game to a draw rather than a win.
The Athletic reported that Ten Hag was also considering bringing in former Manchester United Academy graduate Danny Welbeck before leaving class. It is reported that Ten Hag feels that "Black Bey" can be an excellent addition to the attack, and Manchester United have seriously considered his suggestion.
Welbeck joined United at the age of six and made his debut during the Ferguilla era, making over 100 appearances. But when Louis van Gaal took charge, he sold him to Arsenal for £16 million. Now, Hebe, who is about to turn 34 at Brighton, has been in excellent form, scoring six goals in nine Premier League games this season.
