Ove Kindvall, a former striker for Sweden who scored the decisive goal for Feyenoord in the 1970 European Cup final, has died at 82, as announced by the Dutch club in a statement on Tuesday.
Kindvall joined the Eredivisie team in 1966 and had five successful seasons in the red and white, netting 129 goals in 114 league appearances.
Feyenoord secured their only European Cup with a 2-1 victory over Celtic after Kindvall scored the winning goal in extra time. They became the first Dutch club to triumph in the continent's top competition.
Kindvall was also regarded as a national hero for his significant contribution to securing Swedena spot in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. He also participated in the 1974 finals held in West Germany.
