As of August 5th, Beijing time, several competition days of the Singapore Swimming Championships have concluded. As everyone knows, the final rankings of the gold medal table and overall medal table have been released, with China taking the top spot in both categories, and it is a legitimate first. Australia ranks second, while the United States surprisingly comes in third, with neutral Russia surpassing Germany to claim fourth!
The Chinese team achieved an impressive result of 15 golds, 12 silvers, and 10 bronzes in this event. Thanks to their performance in synchronized swimming, they quickly surpassed Germany to take the lead. Although our swimming performance was lacking, China consistently secured golds in diving, maintaining the top position until the end of the competition. Commenting on the performance of the Chinese team, synchronized swimming has shown absolute strength, while the 13 golds in diving failed to achieve a clean sweep, losing four unexpected golds, which is quite disappointing and requires attention. In swimming, we only secured two golds, and many events lack the strength to contend for the championship; our swimming needs a generational change, as Zhang Yufei and Xu Jiayu are struggling!
Australia performed very strongly in swimming and diving during this event, even unexpectedly snatching gold from China in diving. As a result, Australia ranks second with 13 golds and 28 total medals. Notably, 8 of Australia’s 13 golds came from swimming, proving they are a strong swimming nation and the only team capable of challenging the United States in swimming!
However, the dominance of the United States in this event is clearly lacking, with a total of 10 golds and 32 medals. Of the 10 golds, 9 came from swimming, placing them at the top of the swimming event rankings. However, swimming is gradually becoming more competitive, no longer dominated by the United States alone, as Australia and European countries are rising!
Furthermore, after seeing the final gold medal table and overall medal table, the United States team is likely feeling overwhelmed because China achieved the rare feat of being first in both categories at this championship. Therefore, the United States cannot place themselves in the first position anymore; if they want to rank first, they can only do so by counting bronze medals!
