Anthony has rejected the offer for the third time, waiting for a last-minute return to Betis! Manchester United misses out on the £50 million sale to Saudi Arabia.

Reports indicate that Manchester United faced a significant hurdle while trying to sell Anthony this summer. He has declined the transfer invitation to leave Manchester United for the third time, as he insists on moving to Real Betis. The 25-year-old Brazilian right winger was loaned to Betis in January and, despite initial skepticism, he shone brightly and drew attention.

This winger is part of what Manchester United refers to as the "five rats" in the locker room, and head coach Ruben Amorim has requested their complete sale. However, so far, Rashford is the only player who has left, being loaned to Barcelona for free.

Manchester United spent €100 million to sign Anthony from Ajax in 2022, but now faces significant losses when selling him three years later. Although he scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists during his six months at Betis, his weekly wage of £200,000 makes it difficult for many clubs to afford him.

The Saudi Arabian Professional League may be the only destination that can match Anthony's salary at Manchester United, potentially allowing the club to receive the €50 million transfer fee envisioned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

However, "Compass" has already rejected an offer from Al Nassr, the team where Cristiano Ronaldo plays. Al Nassr is willing to offer Anthony a lucrative deal, but he is solely focused on joining Betis, thus refusing to entertain their offer and preferring to take a pay cut to return to Betis.

Previously, Anthony had turned down offers from Brazilian clubs Botafogo and São Paulo because he wants to stay in Europe to participate in next year's 2026 World Cup in the USA and Mexico. Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Anthony is eager to rejoin Betis and is unwilling to join any other team.

Betis' head coach Pellegrini has also requested the club to sign Anthony; however, considering the financial figures involved, this transaction is not straightforward. Manchester United is willing to sell Anthony to European clubs for £30 million, a figure that Betis is unlikely to meet. Initially, they wanted to loan Anthony again and then hope to buy 50% ownership for €20 million, but Manchester United did not agree.

To fulfill his desire to join Betis, Anthony is prepared to wait until the final weeks of the transfer window, hoping that the La Liga club can reach an agreement with Manchester United. Typically, as the "window" is about to close, buyers may increase their offers while sellers may lower their asking prices, making it more likely for both parties to reach a compromise.

Spanish media reports that Anthony is willing to significantly reduce his annual salary by £4 million to rejoin Pellegrini's Betis, which will engage in a new round of negotiations with Manchester United in the coming days. Betis will kick off their new La Liga season in two weeks.

Both the Sevilla Daily and ABC Sevilla reported on Monday that Betis plans to engage in a "war of attrition," seeking another loan before the transfer window closes, possibly without a mandatory purchase obligation. Furthermore, Betis is even unwilling to pay Anthony's full salary, which is seen as an arrogant approach!

Betis has remained quiet for several weeks but has kept in touch with Anthony's agent and communicated directly with him, encouraging him to stay persistent and ensuring that he will eventually get his wish. Anthony's determination is clear; since early June, he has made it clear to Manchester United's management that he only wants to return to Betis.

Thus, fans can easily understand why several teammates, including new signings Cunha and Mbeumo, have spoken up for Anthony, believing he could fit Amorim's style of play and should be given a chance for redemption. However, the Manchester United coach still insists on excluding him from the training squad, as "Compass" has already lost interest in Manchester United and wishes to help Betis push for a deal, making his exclusion rather normal.
