Robin van Persie's team must first compete against the Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce in the third qualifying round. Feyenoord will host the Istanbul team in Rotterdam on Wednesday (21:00 CET) for the first leg.
Should Feyenoord fail to overcome Fenerbahce, they will automatically qualify for the league phase of the UEFA Europa League. The winner of the clash between the Dutch and Turkish teams will meet either Benfica or OGC Nice.
Feyenoord and Benfica faced each other in last year's League Phase of the UEFA Champions League, where Feyenoord triumphed with a 3-1 victory on Benfica's home ground.
Fenerbahce and Benfica squared off earlier this pre-season, with the Portuguese side emerging victorious at 3-2. The two teams also met in the third round of the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase in 2018, where Benfica eliminated Fenerbahce with a 2-1 aggregate score.

Feyenoord and OGC Nice have never competed in an official match, but they played against each other for the first time earlier this summer: Feyenoord lost 2-1 to the Ligue 1 team in a pre-season friendly in Austria.
The last encounter between Fenerbahce and Nice occurred during the 1959/60 season, when they faced off three times in the first round. Both teams secured a 2-1 victory at home, after which Nice eliminated the Turkish team with a 5-1 win.
The play-off round of the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase is scheduled for August 19/20 and 26/27.
