Son Heung-min has decided to leave Tottenham Hotspur after 10 years this summer, with his next stop being LAFC in Major League Soccer.

There is no banquet that does not come to an end, just as there are no heroes who do not grow old. The greatest enemy of football stars is time; even the likes of Messi and Ronaldo are not exempt. Both have already left the top five European leagues, and now it is the turn of Asia's top star, former Premier League Golden Boot winner Son Heung-min.

This Sunday, Tottenham will face Newcastle in a preseason match, where captain Son Heung-min personally confirmed at the pre-match press conference that he will depart this summer, concluding his 10-year career with Spurs. Son Heung-min stated:I want to share some news with the fans, which is that I have decided to leave this summer. I am very grateful, and the club respects my decision.

Son Heung-min joined Tottenham in the summer of 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee of €30 million, while his market value at that time was only €16 million. After 10 years at Spurs, he has played 454 matches, scored 173 goals, and provided 101 assists, contributing to the team's victory in the UEFA Europa League in the 2024-25 season. In August 2023, Son Heung-min became the first captain of Tottenham and was awarded the Premier League Golden Boot for the 2021-22 season. Now 33 years old, Son has started to become a rotational player, appearing in 46 matches last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists, still achieving near double-digit figures.

According to the latest report from journalist Tom Bogert, LAFC is about to finalize a major deal to sign Son Heung-min. This deal is not yet fully confirmed, but LAFC is working hard to secure the signing of Asia's top star.

The year 2026 is a World Cup year, taking place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. South Korea has already qualified, and if Son Heung-min chooses to move to Major League Soccer, it can be seen as preparation for the 2026 World Club Cup, allowing him to familiarize himself with the venues and environment while also ensuring stable playing time, which helps the veteran maintain good form.
