A powerful, precise shot from the edge of the box by Tonni Adamsen during extra time secured a 3-2 victory for Silkeborg against the Icelandic team, Akureyri, earning them a spot in the third round of the Conference League qualifiers after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the first half of regular time, Silkeborg faced significant disappointment as the home team led 1-0 at halftime.

Silkeborg turned the tide in the second half when Tonni Adamsen redeemed himself for a missed penalty by scoring twice in a span of eight minutes. Akureyri then managed to equalize, forcing the match into extra time.

Akureyri performed better for much of extra time, but in the 114th minute, Tonni Adamsen struck the ball into the net from the edge of the box via the crossbar to complete his hat trick.

At the game's outset, it appeared that the underestimated Icelandic team would not pose any challenges for Silkeborg.

The visitors were in control, and just a few minutes in, they earned a penalty when the ball brushed the hand of an Icelandic defender in the box, but Tonni Adamsen's feeble attempt allowed Steinthor Audunsson to make the save.

The home side was more efficient when they won a penalty asNicolai Larsen misjudged an intervention in the box, and Hallgrimur Steingrimsson converted the penalty without any trouble.

Just under ten minutes into the second half, Adamsen made amends for his earlier mistake by equalizing after a precise pass from Jens Martin Gammelby.

Then, after an hour, the visitors took the lead as Adamsen scored his second goal of the night, skillfully lifting the ball over an advancing Akureyri goalkeeper.

Silkeborg opted to defend towards the end of the match, which was punished by the home side six minutes before the end when Vidar Orn Kjartansson equalized at 2-2, sending the match into extra time where Adamsen clinched the victory for the Danes.

In the next round, Silkeborg will face the Polish team Jagellonia.
