Hojlund's plans are revealed! If Manchester United signs Sesko for £75 million, he will change his mind and choose to leave.

In 217 AD, Cao Cao wrote the words "chicken rib" during the Battle of Hanzhong; now Ruben Amorim might apply it to the team's number 9 striker, Hojlund. The term "tasteless as chicken rib" implies something that is regrettable to discard but offers no benefit when consumed. The 22-year-old Danish striker embodies this sentiment; he appears to have a positive attitude and occasionally shows brilliance, yet more often than not, his performance feels insipid.

In Manchester United's 4-1 victory over Bournemouth, some fans saw the appealing side of Hojlund. He scored a header. After the match, "the cargo ship" vowed to stay and fight for his position: "My plan is very clear; no matter what happens, I will stay and fight for my place. Competition is good for me; it sharpens me. I am ready, and I feel in great form, so I welcome everything."

Since joining Manchester United in 2023, Hojlund has scored 26 goals in 95 official matches, averaging one goal every four games. These numbers are not bad, but if we exclude last season's five goals in four matches and the previous season's eight goals in eight matches, he has only bagged 13 goals in the other 83 games. This means Hojlund is an emotional striker, a familiar trait to Red Devils fans, as seen with past players like Rashford and Martial.

However, some believe the expectations on Hojlund are too high; he should be paired with an experienced striker to share the burden. The Dane himself shares a similar view: "When I arrived, Martial was there, but he was injured, so I obviously had to take on a lot of playing time. You can't tell me I shouldn't play because I want to participate in every match. But clearly, at the beginning, I could have asked my teammates to take on some of the scoring responsibilities."

To solidify his position at Manchester United, Hojlund even claimed he should have scored two goals against Bournemouth. Teammate Amad Diallo scored the third goal in a scramble, with the ball deflecting off Hojlund's body before going in. "That was definitely my goal; I couldn't help it; the ball hit my calf, so it should have been mine," he said.

Statistics show that the young Hojlund has scored 61 goals for both club and country, which naturally pales in comparison to his counterpart Haaland. By the time Haaland was Hojlund's age, he had already netted over 100 goals. However, other strikers, like England captain Harry Kane, had only scored 53 goals by the age of 22.

Hojlund emphasized: "I am still very young. People sometimes forget that I am only 22. Not every striker at this age scores 100 goals. But I've learned a lot, and I think you can see that from my game; I am beginning to develop my fundamentals and improve. Last season was tough for all of us; I should have done better. But it’s also a team issue; we will strive to do better now, and Manchester United is heading in the right direction, looking forward to what comes next."

Manchester United's number 9 revealed he sought advice from legends Schmeichel and Saha: "I've talked to them about some things. But we played so many matches last year that it was hard for me to incorporate anything from training into the games. I watched a lot of footage, especially regarding movement in the box and the timing of runs, which is very important. Strikers always want to score, and I am no different. I know it was a bit tough after last season; I worked hard during the break and feel great. I am putting in the effort every day to improve and elevate my game."

However, Manchester United head coach Amorim stated that he could not determine Hojlund's future. Currently, Manchester United is pursuing a £75 million deal for RB Leipzig's Sesko, and if this player joins, given that the Red Devils will not have European competitions this season, Hojlund may not get much playing time even if he wishes to stay as a substitute. Furthermore, Sesko is also three months younger than Hojlund, meaning the latter could be relegated to a backup role for a long time.

Amorim remarked: "I am very satisfied with Rasmus (Hojlund), but I don't know what will happen next until the transfer market closes. The important thing is that Rasmus scores; he fits well with the team, and he is improving. But I reiterate, until the summer window closes, I am unclear about what will happen. I am pleased with last season's players; today we look like a different team, and I hope to continue like this."

Hojlund clearly wants to stay; British media reported that after the game against Bournemouth, he proactively shouted in the mixed zone: "Does anyone want to interview me?" He then hinted at his stance, stating that unless the club clearly informs him that he is no longer needed, he wishes to remain. "So far, the club hasn't told me anything. For me, the most important thing is to keep working hard and stay focused. Then we will naturally see what happens," he said.

However, Premier League transfer expert Graham Bailey disclosed that this was merely Hojlund's public statement; deep down, he knows he is not the first choice. If a high-priced new signing comes in, he is likely to choose to leave. "Hojlund understands that he is not Manchester United's first choice. He knows the club has been in talks with various strikers all summer; don't forget that Manchester United wanted to sign Liam Delap back in early June, and now it's Sesko, both young players," Bailey said. "Manchester United has not directly told Hojlund he can leave, nor has Hojlund requested to leave. But I have learned they have had discussions, and Hojlund is aware of his situation. If Sesko or another high-priced number 9 joins, Hojlund is likely to transfer."
