Fabrizio Romano and various other transfer analysts reported on Monday that a deal is "in place" for Paixao, who has reached a personal agreement with Marseille before Leeds United entered the competition last week.
Following a stall in negotiations between Feyenoord and Marseille, Premier League newcomers Leeds United aimed to take over the deal with a better offer than that of Olympique Marseille, which was rumored to be around €29 million. However, Marseille enhanced their offer and convinced Feyenoord to finalize a deal with them instead.
The 25-year-old Paixao, who will sign a five-year contract in France, now appears set to depart Feyenoord three years after joining the Rotterdam club fromCoritiba in his home country of Brazil. In 129 appearances for the Rotterdam giants, Paixao netted 39 goals and provided 23 assists.
