Atletico Madrid announced on Tuesday that they have finalized a deal with Botafogo to acquire 24-year-old Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada.
In a statement, Atletico Madrid stated that they had "finalized an agreement" with Botafogo, which remains subject to "medical examinations and the signing of a contract."
Thiago Almada will be joining Atletico Madrid on a contract lasting five years, with the Spanish club paying 21 million euros for 50 percent of the Argentine midfielder's economic rights, which were estimated at 40 million euros by John Textor.
