England's Michelle Agyemang made a significant impact in under 10 minutes at EURO 2025, and she hopes to maximize her time on the field when the Lionesses take on the Netherlands in a crucial Group D match on Wednesday.

Agyemang was an 86th-minute substitute in their 2-1 defeat to France in their opening match on Saturday but recorded more touches in the French box (five) than any other England player, had a shot on goal that was blocked, and generally created havoc for the opposing defenders.

The 19-year-old made a compelling case for more playing time against the Netherlands with England at risk of becoming the first defending champions in tournament history to be eliminated in the group stage.

"I think it's easy to look at the time and think, 'Ugh, there's not enough time left,'" Agyemang told reporters on Monday. "But obviously, that's the beauty of the game. Sometimes it only takes 10 seconds to make an impact. So I think anytime on the pitch is good enough for me."

Agyemang had a remarkable debut for the England senior team back in April against Belgium, scoring just 41 seconds in with only two touches of the ball.

When asked about the pressure of being a late-game substitute, Agyemang stated there was none.

"Coming in to change a game when things aren't going well can actually be more advantageous; you just step in and take control of the match," she said. "That's how I felt the other day. On another day, that could have earned us three points."

Agyemang has also made a positive impression on her teammates during her brief time with them, impressing defender Lucy Bronze with her strength in training. However, Agyemang mentioned that coach Sarina Wiegman has advised her to temper it a bit.

"I think I've improved on it, but yeah, Lucy said she thinks it's one of my great strengths, and I know Lucy is physical too, so we enjoy competing in training," Agyemang said.

The young forward aspires to emulate Lauren James, whom she regards as a role model and whose dynamic attacking style resembles her own. James emerged as a key player in England's journey to the Women's World Cup final in 2023.

"LJ is one of the most technically skilled players I have ever seen, and she's so composed and collected on the ball. You can see that whether she's in front of goal or under pressure; she knows exactly what she's doing," Agyemang stated.
