Marcus Rashford may return to Manchester United this summer! refused to take a salary cut of 40 million and no one wanted it, and Lajue wanted to sell it abroad

Manchester United expect Marcus Rashford to move to a foreign club in the summer window and have no intention of returning him to the club. But Sir Jim Ratcliffe's £40 million plan to purge the 27-year-old winger will face a huge challenge as he refuses to take a pay cut unless he joins Barca.

Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan in the winter window in January, but he has been out for three weeks with a hamstring injury and is confirmed to be out for the season. Unai Emery confirmed Marcus Rashford was out of action against Tottenham on Friday, while Villa's season is over with Villa out of action in the final round away to Manchester United, with Rashford being 100 per cent unavailable due to the loan avoidance rule.

Under the loan contract, Villa have the option to buy out Rashford for £40 million, but they do not have a right of first refusal, meaning that any team can compete equally for £40 million, and the decision is in Rashford's hands.

Manchester United will certainly agree to sell Marcus Rashford, who has fallen out with manager Ruben Amorim and has been left out of the squad in 11 of his 12 games prior to his loan. United's hierarchy has reiterated that Marcus Rashford is not in the plans for next season.

But sources close to Rashford have also stressed that he is not prepared to accept a pay cut. His regular weekly salary at Manchester United is as high as £325,000, meaning there will be few potential buyers for his summer window. Marcus Rashford's contract with Manchester United is still long before it expires in 2028.

So, despite the determination to purge, United are ready to welcome Marcus Rashford back for pre-season training, which could be similar to what happened to Jadon Sancho last year. Jadon Sancho was named in United's squad for the US pre-season tour and also played in the tournament, with former boss Ten Hag having to feign a settlement with him until the transfer deadline on 31 August, when Sancho moved to Chelsea on a loan-to-buy basis.

According to his contract and schedule, Rashford will have to return to Carrington for pre-season training if he is unable to complete his transfer by the start of July. But as long as Amorim remains in charge, there is zero chance that he will play again for the Red Devils, who have supported and played for him since childhood.

Marcus Rashford made it clear that he wanted to continue in the Champions League, starting the two legs of Villa's quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain this season, scoring in the second leg to help his side win the comeback, but unfortunately lost too much in the first leg and still went out. Villa could miss out on a Champions League place next season, so it is increasingly unlikely that he will stay.

Rashford's cronies say he has "never been happier" at Villa. He started 10 games during his time at Villa Park, making seven substitute appearances, scoring four goals and providing six assists. Villa are responsible for 75% of Marcus Rashford's wages, however, they will not be able to afford a £40 million transfer fee and a £325,000 weekly salary if they miss out on the Champions League.

British media have revealed that Rashford has ruled out joining any London club, and somehow he is not interested in the British capital. In addition, if he can join Manchester City or Liverpool, he does not rule out accepting it, of course, the chances of the two teams looking at him are also very slim, and it will not happen.

PSG have also been interested in Rashford in the past, even meeting his agent brother Dwayne Maynard in August 2022. But Luis Enrique has reinvented the Parisian squad with a younger, more holistic philosophy and a rejection of egocentrism, and Rashford is no longer the player Qatari wants from his favourites.

La Liga's Barcelona have long been interested in Marcus Rashford, with wingers Raphinha and Yamal being Flick's absolute choice, but they need a substitute, 36-year-old striker Robert Lewandowski also needs another forward rotation, and Lewandowski's contract expires next year. However, Barcelona is short of money, and they will only act if they meet the two conditions of Rashford's salary cut and Manchester United's price cut. If a permanent move for Rashford cannot be realized, a further season on loan is also an option for the Red Devils.
