Manchester United won the Europa League and didn't have the money to cruise! The Premier League made 24 million less, and Lajue planned to only barbecue to celebrate

If United beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final next Wednesday, the dismal season will suddenly become a success, with the club not only winning a trophy but also qualifying for next season's Champions League, with an estimated prize money of more than £85 million, plus the Europa League winner's income, totalling hundreds of millions.

In the domestic league, Manchester United have suffered a miserable record, losing a record 17 games and likely to continue to grow, with 16th place at the lowest level of the Premier League era. If they win the title in Bilbao, Red Devils fans will be celebrating a summer. But the players may only have a BBQ (barbecue) party to celebrate the championship.

In March, Newcastle United celebrated their first domestic cup win since 1970 with a lively open-top bus parade in the city centre. Liverpool have officially announced that they will hold a similar event on May 26 to celebrate winning the Premier League.

But Sir Jim Ratcliffe, in order to save money, did not plan to make a big splash and was going to celebrate his Europa League victory with a barbecue at the Carrington Training Centre. The last time the Reds had the chance to parade through Manchester's floats was in 2013, when they won their 20th top-flight title and were greeted by 100,000 fans. Since then, Manchester United have won the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup, but there are no parades scheduled.

According to The Times, the official reason given by Rajue was that there was no time for the championship parade due to the schedule. Four days after the Europa League final (25 May), the team will play their final game of the season against Aston Villa in the Premier League, before flying to Asia for two post-season commercial matches in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, on 28 May and 30 May respectively.

But that argument is simply untenable, as opponents Tottenham have already confirmed that they will be paraded in north London before their final league game of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion once they win the Europa League. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have both lost 2-0 at home in the Premier League.

Manchester United gave up the championship parade for the only reason they didn't have money. According to the Daily Mail, Rajue has announced that it will not give staff free tickets to the finals, and will only draw lots to provide a few lucky winners with the opportunity to watch the game live, and the others can only watch the game in front of the big screen in Manchester, and club employees will receive two free drinks, while others will have to pay for themselves.

The Sun reports that the Europa League final means different things to Manchester United and Tottenham. Tottenham are keen to end a 17-year title drought, while Manchester United are pursuing the financial benefits of qualifying for the Champions League. For the Red Devils, winning the Europa League not only brings Champions League qualification, but also means that the team can avoid activating a penalty clause in their sponsorship contract with Adidas. If the Champions League is missed next season, the sponsorship fee will be cut by £10 million.

Manchester United are likely to end up 16th in the Premier League and £23.8 million less in prize money compared to last season's eighth-place finish. The sharp drop in income, combined with the player's £479 million total wages, and the unpaid transfer fees for the players: Onana £28 million, Antony £34 million, Hojlund £38 million, Zirkze £29 million, Ugarte £33 million and Casemiro £15 million, all have been a headache for Rajue.

Amorim is right to say that winning the Europa League will not solve the problems he and the club are facing. But if you lose, it will make the problem even more difficult, especially financially, and that's why this final is important.
