Manchester United must sign two strikers, Hojlund may have no place to stand! Lajue wants to sell 60 million, but no one wants it

Manchester United are in talks to bring in Brazilian striker Cunha for £62.5 million, but he will not be the only striker Ruben Amorim has brought in in the summer window, with the club intending to sign two strikers to make up for the biggest weakness of the squad this season. The data suggests that the Red Devils' scoring ability could be at an all-time low.

After 34 Premier League games, United have scored just 39 goals, just six more than relegated Ipswich Town. The Reds have only scored less than 50 league goals in one season since 1990, and that was in 2015/16, when Louis van Gaal's side finished the Premier League season with 49 goals, and despite winning the FA Cup, he was sacked the day after the final.

Now, United need to score at least 11 goals in four games to avoid setting a new record of shame. However, they have only scored 11 goals in their last nine games. Next, Amorim will focus on the Europa League semi-finals, so 11 goals in four rounds of the Premier League may be an unattainable goal.

Manchester United centre-forward Hojlund broke his goal drought in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth to equalise on 96 minutes, but it was only his fourth goal in 29 Premier League games. The much-criticised Rashford also scored four goals in 15 Premier League games before joining Aston Villa on loan. After the game, Hojlund commented on his goal on social media: "We want to win, but I need that goal."

Hojlund needed that goal, but it wasn't enough. He will have to score in the Europa League semi-finals against Athletic Bilbao and be more efficient in the subsequent finals, as well as in Premier League games against Brentford, West Ham, Chelsea and Villa, to change his fortunes.

Manchester United spent £72 million to bring him in, and he scored 16 goals in 43 games last season, which was a good start, but he did not expect this season to decline rapidly. Manchester United are expected to undergo a massive rebuild of their squad this summer, selling underperforming, overpaid stars to raise funds, with Hojlund likely to fall victim.

Amorim is said to have named Ipswich's Liam Delap as his first choice for a new centre-forward brought in in the summer, and the 22-year-old England striker could be bought out for just £30million after the relegation. The conundrum now is how to convince Dropp Jr. to move to Old Trafford.

Sporting Portugal's Djekereish has been linked with a move to the Red Devils again this week, and the British media outlet "Football Insider" even said that the deal has been confirmed, which is naturally impossible. Manchester United only has to win the Europa League and qualify for next season's Champions League to compete for the capital of Dzhekerish, otherwise there is no chance at all.

Whoever United bring in will leave Hojlund on the bench and in trouble. He was the choice of former manager Ten Hag, who directly changed the same "SEG agency" agent as the Dutchman before the transfer. Meanwhile, Manchester United's director of football, John Murtaugh, who signed Hojlund, has taken up the role of global development director at his former club Atalanta.

Among the strikers, Hojlund may even be the one Amorim most wants to sell. Offside Insight reports that Serie A sides are keeping an eye on the 'freighter', but Sir Jim Ratcliffe's desire to price €60 million could lead to no interest. No one will pay the 22-year-old striker's transfer fee of this amount, and United will either cut the price or keep him as a substitute.
