Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes scored a goal and provided two assists in the 3-0 thrashing of Leicester City, which pushed his tally of involvement to more than 30 this season. Fernandes have 16 goals and 15 assists, with 31 direct involvements, second only to the figures of 2020/21 in his first full season with the Red Devils.
Fernandes' performance has been praised by Premier League officials, with the league's social media accounts praising him as a "big shot". He deserves the title, with statistics showing that Fernandes is the sixth player in United history to register 50 assists in the Premier League, the rest of which are Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Eric Cantona.
Eric Cantona (51 assists) and Paul Scholes (55 assists) are the seniors that Fernandes have a chance to surpass this season, but Becky (80 assists) and Wayne Rooney (93 assists) are still some way off.
Giggs's 162 assists, B Fee may be out of reach, even if he maintains his current assist efficiency, he will have to play for another 10 years to get close to the opponent!
In the game, Fernandes' first assist helped team-mate Hojlund break a 21-game goal drought, but he "cursed" the Danish centre-forward in an interview after the game. "In the next two weeks, I hope Rasmus [Hojlund] will not be able to score again! Because he's going to play against me in the national team, he's going to score goals and then we'll talk about it when we come back to Manchester United." B Fei explained.
According to the schedule, Portugal will play Denmark in two Nations League matches on March 21 and March 24 to compete for a place in the semi-finals.
Fernandes Fernandes and Diogo Darlow have been named in the Portugal squad, while Hojlund, Christian Eriksen and Patrick Dolgu will represent Denmark and there will be no doubt that boss Ruben Amorim will also back Fernandes.
Despite a record of two wins and one draw in the past week, Amorim stressed that United are still far from the standard he and his fans want. He believes he and his team need to achieve more to truly earn the respect of their fans.
'We're still far from what the fans expect and what Manchester United deserve, so I don't feel much better.' "We want to win and we want to improve the overall performance. The team is playing better and better, you feel better when you see the result, and I see something different in the team. Today you may feel a lack of energy from some of the players, but even if they are a little tired, the team can find a way to win, which is a good sign. We understood better when and how to press, created more chances and scored more goals. We are improving in all aspects, which is a product of time and the confidence that comes with good results."
On Fernandes' performance: "I don't think Bruno [Fernandes] needs to rest, in that respect he is a special player. He was always ready and recovering quite well. I don't know what the future holds, I just read the data that the performance department told me and what I saw in the competition. I always see a threatening Bruno, a physical Bruno who will stick with him in any situation. So, he's going to stay there."
As for Hojlund, Amorim commented: "He's a very good professional and you can understand his frustration at times because he wants to win. It's a really important goal for him, he's doing the right thing, helping the team and he deserves it more than anyone else."
