This professional football newspaper, which was published on a trial basis in 1979 and officially launched on January 1, 1980, was a light of enlightenment at a time when Chinese were still in the embryonic state of ignorance of football. As a reader of the inaugural issue, in the following decades, until now, no matter what position I am in, no matter what role, I have always maintained a feeling for football, and a special concern, including now I am fortunate to become the chairman of the Chinese Football Association, and can participate in the revitalization of Chinese football in many construction work, I have to say that Yan Junjun and the "Football" newspaper he founded, the profound impact on his youth, is inseparable.

In 2023, after receiving the order to work for the Chinese Football Association, I found a friend of the "Football" newspaper, asked for Yan Lao's phone number, and gave Lao Yan a call, telling him that you may not remember who I am, but I have always thought in my heart that the "Football" newspaper you founded was the first guide in my career. Moreover, Lao Yan did not remember that about 30 years ago, he met a young man in Shenyang who was teaching at Liaoning University and was full of passion for football, and he boldly agreed, and the "Football" newspaper funded and invited this young man to Guangzhou to participate in the "Football" newspaper's national college football debate tournament.

Not long ago, I went to Guangdong Province for research, and I took a weekend to go to the current office of the "Football" newspaper to "check in", and under the familiar LOGO, I held the electronic version of the inaugural issue and took a photo. I think that in addition to repaying one of my own wishes, more importantly, Chinese football should maintain a closer relationship with the media, and work with the media to truly seek development and transmit energy.
