Former Vietnam U23 international joins Becamex Ho Chi Minh City

The club Becamex Ho Chi Minh City is further strengthening its lineup for the 2026/2027 National First Division campaign, having secured the transfer of midfielder Tran Van Cong following his exit from Nam Dinh.

Tran Van Cong was previously a member of the Vietnam U23 team under coaches Park Hang Seo and Gong Oh Kyun. The most memorable achievement of the 1999-born midfielder was reaching the quarterfinals of the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup with Vietnam U23.

At the club level, Tran Van Cong previously played for Hong Linh Ha Tinh before moving to Nam Dinh. While with the Nam Dinh team, he contributed to two consecutive V-League titles in the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons, as well as winning the 2024 National Super Cup.

After the 2025/2026 season concluded, Tran Van Cong decided to leave Nam Dinh and join Becamex Ho Chi Minh City. With his experience in the V-League and the composure gained through many top-level seasons, the 27-year-old midfielder is expected to strengthen the midfield and help Becamex Ho Chi Minh City compete for promotion in the 2026/2027 National First Division.

Before Tran Van Cong, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City had already brought in several new recruits in a row to support the goal of returning to the V-League.

Notably, the club has signed midfielder Dang Anh Tuan, a former Vietnam U23 international who trained at the Aspire Academy in Qatar and was a long-time cornerstone of SHB Da Nang. In addition, head coach Gerard Albadalejo expressed satisfaction that the management quickly responded to the proposal to reinforce the squad, especially in the midfield area.

With experienced additions such as Tran Van Cong, Dang Anh Tuan, and Cao Van Trien, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City demonstrates its determination to build a squad capable of competing at the top and aiming for promotion in the 2026/2027 First Division season.
